Hello Baltimore!

Yesterday I left my home on Long Island and ventured down to Baltimore to spend the remainder of my summer training with Loyola women's soccer during our preseason camp. It's amazing how fast the summer flew by; it feels like yesterday I was packing up my stuff to go home. I hate having to say good bye to my family and friends, and I hate leaving work and the beach, but it's always nice to reconnect with my Loyola friends after some time apart. After a grueling ride full of tons of traffic, I moved all of my belongings into my new dorm last night, but still have not completely unpacked...it's such a tedious process. This morning I reunited with all of my teammates and friends and met our incoming freshman...all 11 of them! Preseason kicked off with our fitness test (the dreaded YBMI (You Better Make It)) at 5 o'clock tonight and although I was a little nervous, I passed with flying colors :) We concluded our day with a team dinner at Strapazza in Towson (which I would argue has the best pizza around, obviously not as good as New york pizza, though). Tomorrow we begin our two-a-day practices, so needless to say the ice bath and I will be best friends!

I'm Back!

So it's definitely been a while since I've posted, but I've been busy! The nice weather has finally made its way to Long Island which has resulted in a lot of beach days, lots of customers at work, and great soccer weather. I just got the results from the soccer coaching course I took in Pennsylvania and I passed! I have a national D license :) As far as playing soccer goes, my team (the Long Island Fury of the WPSL) is doing really well. At this point we are four games away from the national championship, which we happen to be hosting. It's probably the only time in my life I will have the chance to vie for a national chamipionshiop on my home turf...it's so exciting!! I also just came back from Baltimore. I was at Loyola for the week coaching at our youth soccer camp. It was a small camp, but I think everyone had a good time and learned a lot. I'm off to hit the beach for a little bit before our night game this evening! Talk to you later!

My First Post

So it took me a while to figure this whole thing out (any one who knows me knows that computers and technology are not my thing), but here I am ready to write! Right now, I'm in Pennsylvania for the second weekend in a row trying to complete a coaching course to receive my national "d" license. I think I want to go into coaching after I graduate, so this will definitely help me with any of my future coaching endeavors. The class consists of me and about 17 forty five year old men who coach their ten year old sons and daughters, so needless to say I get a lot of attention for being the only girl and still being "young and active". It's pretty funny! Yesterday it took me over 4 hours to make the two hour trip (thank you, Staten Island) but got to the field just in time. I'm staying with my friend, Amanda, at her house in Lansdale, Pa so her and her family keep me entertained while I'm not on the field. Tomorrow I have my final test; I have to do a practice session on finishing. Wish me luck!
